Know What Your Brakes Need Before Paying for Repairs
Hearing squeaking or grinding? Feeling a vibration when braking? National Transmission & Auto Care offers a free brake inspection in Houston to help you understand the condition of your vehicle’s braking components before authorizing repairs.

Our technicians inspect accessible brake components, explain their findings, and recommend the next step. There’s no obligation to purchase repairs.
What Does Our Free Brake Inspection Include?
Our complimentary inspection focuses on the physical condition of your braking system, including:
- Brake pads and shoes: Check accessible friction material for wear and look for uneven wear patterns.
- Rotors and drums: Inspect accessible surfaces for visible scoring, cracking, heat damage, and other signs of wear.
- Brake calipers: Look for visible leaks, damage, and signs of uneven wear that may warrant further testing.
- Brake hoses and lines: Inspect accessible hoses and lines for leaks, cracks, deterioration, or damage.
- Brake fluid: Check the fluid level and look for visible signs of contamination or leakage.
- Brake hardware: Inspect accessible components for damage, excessive wear, or improper installation.
- Parking brake: Check basic operation when applicable.
Inspection access varies by vehicle. If additional disassembly or diagnostic testing is needed, we’ll explain the work and any charges before proceeding.
Clear Findings and Straightforward Recommendations
After the inspection, we’ll explain what we found, which components need attention, and whether additional testing is recommended. If repairs are needed, we’ll discuss the recommended work and provide an estimate for your approval.
No repairs or paid diagnostic services are performed without your authorization.
What Is Not Included?
The free brake inspection is a visual and basic mechanical assessment, not a complete diagnosis of every brake-related concern. Additional diagnostic charges may apply for:
- ABS, traction-control, or other brake warning lights
- Electrical faults involving sensors, wiring, or control modules
- Intermittent concerns that require extended testing
- Noises or other symptoms requiring extensive disassembly to identify
- Hydraulic pressure testing or specialized diagnostic procedures
Parts, repairs, fluid replacement, and additional diagnostic testing are not included in the free inspection. We’ll explain any recommended services and obtain your authorization first.
When Should You Have Your Brakes Inspected?
Schedule an inspection if you notice:
- Squeaking, squealing, or grinding while braking
- Vibration or pulsation through the brake pedal or steering wheel
- Your vehicle pulling to one side when braking
- A change in brake pedal feel or stopping performance
- A brake warning light on the dashboard
If your brakes are not stopping the vehicle normally, the pedal sinks toward the floor, or you suspect a brake fluid leak, avoid driving and arrange for the vehicle to be transported to the shop.
